Q
What is genome?
AThe body of any organism is created based on information contained in DNA. Each of the information that defines each trait is called gene, and a complete set of genes that defines the entire body is called genome.
-
Q
What is genome editing?
AGenome editing is a technology to rewrite genetic information of a targeted trait. Consequently, it can enhance/weaken certain ability of the organism.
-
Q
How is it different from genetic modification?
AGenetic modification is a technology to introduce foreign genes into an organism which enables them to acquire a new ability that is not originally available. On the other hand, genome editing only makes changes on genes that the organism originally has, therefore the outcome is either enhancement or reduction of the original ability.

Q
Is the genome edited fish safe?
AThe food safety risk of genome edited food is not due to the method itself. Even the traditional breeding method can sometimes produce harmful food by accident as it cannot control which genes to mutate. However, our genome editing technology can eliminate such accidents as it only effects the targeted genes.

Q
How do you produce a genome edited fish?
AOriginally, any organisms have a repairing function to fix its DNA when damaged. Sometimes errors occur in its repairing process, and accumulation of such changes lead to evolution of the species. Genome editing is done by inducing such repairing process intentionally by stimulating the targeted genes using specific enzyme.

Q
Is genome edited fish delicious?
ABy making breed improvement on taste components, fat, or texture, we believe that we can provide delicious fish varieties that will meet consumer demand.

Q
Is genome edited fish available in the market?
ACurrently, genome edited fish is not available in the market. We will do our best to be the first to bring them to the table. Any new information will be updated on our web page.
